th e fact is n o t acknowledged) is th e h k d called Ten-roujoulon by the natives o f Celebes
(cf. Buff. Ois. vii. p. 191). T h e whole story appears a fabrication.

writing, and h e re he first assigns L atin appellations. F o r most of the bii-ds, however,
described by him in the ‘ General Synopsis’ Gmelin h ad already given names, which are
allowed by Latham in th e p resent ‘ Index.’ I shall therefore only give th e few titles wliich
are here assigned for the first time.
