Adult. E n tire head, neck, u pper portion o f the back p u re wh ite; middle o f the back
and scapulars duU green, lower portion o f the back, rump, and upper tail-coverts b rig h t
co b a lt; wing-coverts dull cobalt tinged with g reen ; quills black, externally edged,
especially on the secondaries, with cobalt ; ta il dull cobalt above, greyish black beneath ;
lores d u sky ; feathers ro u n d the eye black, w ith a line o f greenish feathers extending from
the eye over th e ear-coverts.
Young. Upper surface o f th e body blueish green, duller on the interscapulary region
and b rig h te r on th e rump, where it inclines to cobalt ; a small loral spot, a nuchal spot, a
bro ad collar encii’cling the neck, and the entire u nder surface o f the body pure white ; bill
black, yellowish a t the base o f th e lower mandible; feet olive-brown.
