T h e p re sen t P e rn appears to have spread itself into collections
from Alessrs. Rollisson, of Tooting. I t is a handsome species,
and v ery unlike Polypodium irioides of Po ire t, except in its
fructification. Some of our best botanists consider it as only
a v ariety of P . irioides; however this may be, it has been
deemed advisable to figure it.
F ro n d s simple, ensiform; apex attenuated, sometimes bifid;
margin of th e frond straight, instead of the irreg u la r lobes,
as in P . irioides. Fro n d s hanging nearly horizontal, (not erect,
like P . irioides, and with much fewer scales th an in th a t species.)
Consistency not so fleshy and stiff, nor so yellow in colour as
P . irioides.
