So narrow are the fronds of V itta r ia lineata th a t they have
the appearance more of a leafless stem than of a frond. Rare.
A n evergreen greenhouse species.
In tro d u c ed into this country in 1820, b u t extremely rare
in cultivation.
Native of Tropical America, Brazil, and Venezuela. I t is
a common species in Jtfexico. Leibmann found it at S. Ped ro
Tepinapa, and at Teotalcingo, both in the district of Chinantla,
of the department of Oajacas; at Mirador, Huatusco, Chinantla,
department of P u eb la , at an altitude of seven thousand feet;
