recent “ Catalogue of F e rn s,” places it amongst th e P olypodium
trib e , in the section Pheyopteris. I t has therefore been considered
advisable to follow the latte r authority, especially as a
careful examination has also convinced the author th a t the
spore-cases are naked.
The present species is a noble F e rn , with very bold, large
fructification, and capable of being made a fine exhibition
plant.
An evergreen greenhouse species.

Cultivated in the Royal Gardens, K ew , in 1833.
