T h e r e are a num b e r of F erns very similar to each other as
garden plants, although, botanically speaking, distinct. Of these
we have figured and described Pohjpodium Catharince, P .
vacillans, and P . harpeodes. T here seems to be a little confusion
amongst botanists as regards these species, and perhaps the
p resent F e rn may n o t be distinct from P . Catharince.
An evergreen stove Fern.
Native of Brazil and St. Catharine.
Fro n d s pinnatifid, alternate, glabrous, somewhat slender and
pendulous, and in this respect differ from the species above
refe rred to; lateral, and articulated on a green, creeping
rhizoma, covered with peltate, fimbriated, brown scales; pinnules
linear-oblong, membranous, somewhat obtuse, u ndulated, and
repand.
Sori small and biserial; yellowish in colour.
