
Form of frond ovate, deeply pinnatifid, membranaceous; the
segments alternate, oblong-lanceolate in form, and acute.
Veins small and reticulated.
Sori minute, immersed between the venules; biserial, and
covering the whole frond. U p p e r surface of frond covered
with minute white pubescence. Alidrib of frond crowded with
brown hairs, especially near the base, where they are long.
. Ateins green, except near the base, where th ey are reddish
brown.
Ehizoma creeping, densely scaly, and whitish n ear the
extreme end.
L en g th of frond from th re e to four feet; colour lig h t green.
Substance of the frond stiff.
The p resent species has been confused with another very
similar F e rn , the Polypodium coronans of AVallich, to he h e re after
described.
