Caudex u p rig h t, and densely covered with d ark reddish
brown long scales.
Stipes and rachis scaly, especially near th e base.
Fro n d s pinnate, pinnæ pinnatifid, being deeply so near the
base. Pinnæ linear-lanceolate; pinnules rounded. A pex both
of frond and pinnæ acuminate. P innæ short-stalked and
ascending. Infe rio r basal pinnule la rg e r than the rest, and
often split quite to th e stem.
Fro n d s triangularly-elongate in form.
Sori covering the whole u n d e r side of the frond.
Veins forked.
L en g th of frond th irty inches, a th ird of which is naked.
Colour a rich d ark shining green.
