A greenhouse species.
Galleotti found it ou the Volcano Orizaba, at an elevation of
from nine to ten thousand foot, growing in oak and fir woods.
Lcibmann found it in the woods over Cliinantha, between seven
and eight h u n d red feet hig h , p rincipally growing upon the oak
trees.
A very characteristic fact which authors do not speak of, and
which is especially of importance in relation to this species, is
the rhizoma.
