In Mexico it grows on old tru n k s of forest trees, from the
hottest east coast to above nine thousand feet altitude.
Fro n d s simple, linear-lanceolate, glabrous, pendulous, and
coriaceous; the b a rre n frond much shorter and much thinner.
Veins internal, very few, simple, parallel, and th e ir apices
combined, forming a transverse sporangiferous receptacle.
Fro n d s late ra l, forming a dense tussacky mass, on a short,
creeping, scaly rhizoma.
Sori intrama rginal, in a groove which runs nearly the whole
len g th of th e frond.
L en g th from twelve to twenty-four in ch e s; b re ad th an e ighth
of an inch.
