
Sori prominent, uniserial, submarginal, oblong, or oval, and
formed on the u p p e r two thirds of the frond, extending nearly
to the ap ex ; about forty p a irs; colour a brownish orange, and
raising umbones on the up p e r side of the frond. ^
Length from twenty to twenty-two inches; colour a brig h t
shining green.
Ilhizoma creeping.
This species has more the looks of a Scolopendrtwn than ot
a Polypodium.
P e rhaps best known as the Phymatodes longijolia.
A charming P e rn , remarkably distinct from all others. The
suhmarginal line of sori, and the raised oval-shaped umbones
shewinn- th e place of the sori when viewing th e frond from
the up p e r surface, ren d e r it an exceedingly _ desirable species
to all lovers of the curious and beautiful in this trib e of plants.
