T h is is tru ly a magnificent F e rn ; its pendulous hab it and
bold shining fronds, with the deeply immersed sporangiferous
receptacles, raising on the up p e r side extremely prominent
tubercles, are features that make it an exceedingly distinct
F e rn , and at the same time a remarkable and glorious object.
Polypodium saccatum is very rare in cultivation in this
country, indeed I believe that it is only to be found at Ivew.
I t is an evergreen stove species.
Native of Java.
The fronds are pinnatifid, having a lengthy stipes; th ey are
smooth, the sinus wide, obtuse, and ro u n d ed ; laciniæ broadly
