[I am not sure of this river. I saw a very broad channel
with every appearance of being an affluent in the right
bank.
(Neither am I sure of this. If the channel on the left bank
J I saw be not a .river, then the fierce Marunja are islanders.
I From a little east of Ukere to the Saukuru the course
( of the Livingstone is westerly.
IBangala river enters from the right bank. The natives are
most ferocious.
•The largest affluent of the Livingstone entering from the
left bank. Water of a tea colour; does not commingle
with the waters of the main river for 130 miles below the
confluence. This is the river known as the Kasai on the
\ Cazembe and Angola road.
(A white-water river on right bank by two branches, each
( 125 yards broad. Current swift, but not of great depth.
'A large and deep river entering from the left bank, 450
If yards wide. In Angola it is known as the Kwango.
fA swift river 150 yards broad, entering from right bank
by two branches, one on each side of Juemba Island,
[ opposite the 1st Cataract of the Livingstone Falls.
(A swift river 100 yards broad, tumbling as a series of cataracts
from a height of 1200 feet from right bank below
[ Lady Alice Rapids.
(This river divides the district of Zinga from Massassa, and
I enters the Livingstone by a fall of 300 feet into the Po-
[ cock basin.
lA river dividing the Babwende land from that of the Basundi,
( on the right bank.
(A river on the left bank, emptying into the Livingstone
