Glabrous, youug branches terete, unarmed. Leaves membranous, oblong or cllipticobloiig,

S c a n d e n t , the young branches and petioles densely covered with minute, rusty,
sub-deciduous, tomentum. Slem sub-striate; prickles in pairs, short, hooked. Leaves
glabrous, coriaceous, oblong-lanceolate, obtuse or rctuse, the midrib prominent, the 5
or 6 pairs of nei-ves obscure; length 1 to 1-2-5 in., breadth -i in., petiole -2 in.
Flower pedicels solitary, glabrous, morn than half as long as the leaves. Flmers -To in.
i n diam,, white to pink. Sepals 4, free, in two series, decussate, ovate-rotund, concave.
Petals 4, sessile, imbiicate, ohavate-oblong, obtuse, puberulous. Stamens about 30, inserte

Ovary ovoid, globular, apiculate, many-ovuled. Fruit globose with an apical beak, -6
in. in diam, (unripe). Seeds several, imbedled in pulp, testa crustaceous, cotyledons
convolute.

The fruit of this has been only once collected. The species is a fine creeper, 15 to 20 feet long. 'It
closely resembles C. trimrvia, II. f. & Tli. in many respects: but the leaves are not triple—but pinaatenerved.

hooked, very sharp, much shorter than the jietiole. Leaves glabrous, shining, more or
less ,broadly lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, shortly acuminate, the base narrowed or
r o u n d e d ; main nerves 8 or 9 pairs, anastomosing in bold intramarginal arches, the
secondary nerves bold as is the midiib, the reticulations distinct; length 5-5 to 7 5 in.,
b r e a d t h 1-75 to 2-25 in.; petiole under '5 in., slender. Flowers in fascicles of 2 or
3, supra-axillary; the pedicils slender, more than 1 in. long, ebracteolate. Sepals ovatelanceolate,
acuminate, puberulous. Petals broadly elliptic, obtuse. Slamens about 20,
t l i e filaments unequal. Ovary on a short gynophore, narrowly elliptic, the stigma sos?ilc,
ovules numerous. Pruit cjlindric, tapering to each end, the apes shortly baaked; when

A creeper, SO to 30 feet long; allied to C. Finlayswana, Wall, by its curious cuQumber-like frtiit,
but wilh different leaves. Flnwers havo as yet been collected only in bud. Fully-developed flowers
are still unknown.
