Tîthsr apparently about tbe size of a small potato. Loafing stem as thick as the
middle inger, with loose basal sheaths. Leases 8—12 in. long, elliptic-obovate, apiculate,
yellow-green above with diJl purplish margins and strongly plaited, dull pale purplish
red beneath with green nerves. Seape 18 in. long, as thick as the little finger or less,
more or less purplo; basal sheaths loose; raceme a span to a foot and a half long,
erect; bracts i m. long and slender pedicels and sepals dnll violet pmple. Sepals i—i in.
long •' tips not recurred. Felala paler, shottcr. Zip shorter than the sepals. Celtimn short,
anther depressed, umbonate ; pollinia globose, caudiole short; gland small, orbiôular.
S »latrata»»! differs a good deal from most or all the hitherto described speoios in the ereet sepals
not reonrved at the tips. The Hetbarinm materials from wMch it was first described (from Monlmein)
wonld appear to present some differences from that represented in the plate, especially in tho hp, which m
a dried state presents three very distinct thickened nerves, that are not here represented. The original
drawing is inscribed "EnlopHa fusca. Wall.," probably intended for E./«!», Bhime, which is M. min,

Tuber not seen. Leafing stem very short, with the broad sheathing bases of
the leaves 2 in. diam. Leases very small at flowering time, when matm-e a foot or
more long, dark green, paler beneath. Scape 1—3 feet, rather slender, green. Raceme
short; iiowers spreading, 1—i n . diam.; bracts, sepals petals and ovary green. Sepals
I in. long, 3—5 nerved; petals rather shorter and broader, 3-nerved. Lip recurved,
shorter than the petals, veiy conspicaous from the white disk, broad green crisped
margins, and transverse red veins of the epichil. Anther-tip bifid; pollinia globose, veiy
broad, caudicle quadrate.
Herbarixtm specimens resemble a good deal E. vircm, from "wliicla this difiers in the veiy distinct
prolongation of the foot of the column, and -which, brings it into the group Cyriopera.

HAB.—EASTERN BENGAL ; in the Lushai Hills, G. B. Barton Groves.
Stem flexuose, probably several feet long and much branched, dark green as
are the leaves, which are of the same thickness (of a crow-quill), internodes 1 in. Spikes
aiising halfway between the internodes, about a in. long; bracts imbricating obliquely,
truncate, dark brown. Flowers appearing one at a time, flower-buds globoso green
Lip rather longer than the sepals, probably variable in colour, the epichil being pale
purple with darker margins in one drawing and greenish yellow in another. Column
triangular, .fleshy; anther subquadrate, retuse at the top, quite smooth ; pollinia ovoid
seated on veiy short broad caudicle with a narrow gland.
I have seen only one specimen, without locality, from the Calcutta Eerbarium, end two drawings
of which the one here rcproduoed is inscribed " iongipetalim, 18th April 1861." The other
bears the habitat and collector's name given above.
