Leans few, 3—8 by —2|- in., flaccid, nerveless, costa indistinct. Scape as
long as the leaves or shorter, inclined or nodding ; sheaths few, very short, green ;
bracts very small, much shorter than the pedicels, which are (with the ovary) ^ in.;
flowers 5 in. diam. Mentum short, conical.
This is one of tbe very few Indian epipbji^ie orcbida that Las a wide range in distribution,
from Sikkim and Burma to Coylon; and it would be interesting to know how far it varied in
colour in different localities. The genus Dorilis differs fi-om P/ialwnop^is in the conical or spui-like
mentum- of the lip, but this varies a good deal in lenftb, being shortest in D. Wig/itii, and may
not prove to be a reliable charaetei-. •
