diftinguiihed. In one was found a brazen head of a fpear nine
inches long.
I f thefe buildings were the work of the Pitts,. they originally extended
over many parts of Scotland fouth of this, country. The laft
have been fo long under a ftate of cultivation, that it is not furprifing
that we fee none of thefe houfes at prefent, the ftones having been
applied to various ufes. Even in thefe remote parts, they are
continually deftroyed, as farming gains ground. They offer a ready
quarry to the huibandman for making inclofures, or other purpofes
of his bufinefs.
