V oyage to the H ebrides, Parti, p .93.
No. I. f ■ 'H I S altar was found in the great Station at Burrens, the j
«■> Blatum Bulgium of Ant mine. It is dedicated to a local
Goddefs, whofe name has not yet occurred in hiftory. j
The nation, flie was worlhipped by, or that of the devotee
that erefted it is unknown. The reading may be thus; j
DEAE HARIMEL
LAE. SACGA
MIDIAHVS
ARCXVSLLM.
Deae Harimella, Sacgamidiahus Architeftus X. Votum Solvit L.'
Libentiflima mente.
I did not fail confulting the learned on this occaiion; but they I
rung fuch a number of changes on the words, that I content myielf I
with giving the plaineft reading.
No. II. is an altar addrefled to another unknown Goddefs; for we j
know no more of Virndefthis or Viratis, (as one of my I
learned friends will have it) than we do of Harimella. j
