little keys of this archipelago, were called O - T o o g h o o a , O - O o a ,
L o o g h e l a - e i , F o n n q o - a c o k a , L a g h o l l A , O o f a n g a , and
W o f o o g e e : thefe were all fit-uated to the North o f Namocka, but
farther to the North Eaft, the natives told us were the illands o f

Another account of fome illands, lying ftill further to the Weft,
is given by Q u i r o s , as it was communicated to him by a native
-of the ille o f Chicayana, * and as deduced from his-own obfervation
and difcoveries.

from Mexico, an illand, eight or nine leagues in circumference,
which was high and black, like a volcano, and its
name he found to be ‘Taumaco.
2 . C h i c a y a n a . Four days fail from thence, is a low illand,
larger than T a u m X c o , and in the language o f the country,
dogs are named Te-curi, or Te-gho'oree, in the fame
manner

days fail from Taumaco,. though the voyage may be per--
formed in two days with a frefti wind ; the inhabitants are
faid to be very tall. Th e language differs from that fpoken a t
Taumaco.
