Stems from one-fourth to half an inch high, duU-gveen, considerably resembling some small species of Fissidens ;
its affinity is however to SchisLostega, with which it agrees in the vertical insertion of the leaves of its barren stems,
but recedes in the presence of a rather stout nerve and the regular hexagonal cells. In the structure of its peristome
it approaches to Aulacomnion. The calyptra is smaDer in proportion than that of Tctraphis or Tetrodontimn.
