Ltpaugus murufu,  is nearly  o f tile  same  form  as  L .  cmemceas  o f Cayenne  and  the Amazon-  
 valley,  lavmg  the  two  onter  toes  partially  united  at  their  bases,  but  has  the  wings  rather  
 diiferently  proportioned,  the  third  primary being  longest  instead  o f  the  fifth,  and  the primaries  
 generally  less  pointed.  It  is  also  rather  larger  than  L .  dm r c^ u s ,  and  totally different  ill  
 eidoiu-  It  IS  very  smgular  that  all  the  three  Central American  represeiilatives  o f  this  o-roup  
 ot  birds,  belonging  to  three  separate  and  easily  distinguishable  sections,  should be  o f  a  general  
 eiiinamon-browii  colour, while  all  the  South American  members  o f  the  genus  are  more  or less  
 Cinereous.
