M. peruiferum is a beautiful tree, growing 40 feet or
more high, and produces the drug called Balsam of
Peru, and M. toluiferum produces the Balsam of
Tolu. They all grow freely in a mixture of peat
and loam, and cuttings of the young wood root
in sand under a glass in heat.
