SUPPLEMENT
TO THE
BOTANICAL DICTIONAEY.
S INCK the publication of T H E BOTANI CAL DICT IONAUY in 1840, many plants which were
in this country previous to that period, but had not been brought into notice, have been
described or figured. Hybrids, many of a superior character, have originated m various
gardens in different parts of the country. Some British species have been newly discovered,
and the introductions from almost every part of the world have been extensive and satisfactory,
many of which have constituted entirely new genera. All those which have hitherto
been made known are now brought together in the form of a Supplement.
