
Sori marginal, th e ind u sia membranaceous, shallow cup-shaped,
exserted, and stipitate.
Stipes at th e base covered with long re d scales.
Khizoma stout, covered w ith d a rk coloured scales, and
creeping.
L e n g th of frond from fifteen to th irty inches; colour very
pale green.
E a ch vigorous frond is viviparous near its point.
T h e margin of the fertile frond b e in g frin g ed with stalked
sori, th e p lan t has a v e ry attractive appearance, looking as if
su rro u n d ed by a row of small fungi.

D IC K S O N IA .
I n this genus are th e families of Sitolohium, B a la n tium , and
D ic k so n ia ; all large F e rn s , having veins simple or p in n a te , and
termina l sori. Some of the species are a rbore scent, g rowing to
a g re a t h eight.
