Rhizoma slender, creeping, and v e ry long.
Veins dichotomous, close, radia tin g from th e base.
Sori contiguous, marginal, term in a tin g almost every vein,
cuneato-cup-shaped; columella exserted. T h e sori are a rranged
on th e circular margin, like the ‘cogs’ of a wheel.
L en g th about four to six inches. Colour d a rk shining green.

A PIGMY J ungermannia-looking v e ry filmy F e rn , found
always on th e tru n k s of trees, and v e ry distinct.
A n ev ergreen greenhouse species.
N a tiv e of N ew Hollan d , Tasmania, and N ew Zealand, where
it has been found b y D r. J . D. H o o k e r, G u n n , Brown,
Cunningham, Menzies, and Bynoe.
F ro n d s p in n a te , small, th in , ve ry delicate and g listening;
pinna: lin e a r, remote, sinuate, occasionally sub-bipinnatifid,
u p p e r pinnae coadúnate. Costa and veins wavy.
In v o lu c re sunk, and u rc eolate-cylindrical; m o u th spreading
and entire. Stipes v e ry slender and filiform.
Caudex v ery slender, creeping, elongate, and filiform.
L en g th of frond from two to five inches. Colour grassy
green. AVidth h a lf an inch.
