v ery distinct, and having p en d en t h u t n o t curving branches.

F ro n d s glabrous, simple or forked, dichotomous, p in n a te , and
u su a lly about a foot in len g th , b u t vary in g considerably in
size, and in th e degree of ramification. Pinnse pinnatifid,
about an in ch and a q u a rte r in len g th , opposite below,
a lternate above, tb e segments be in g semiovate, plan e , and
membranous, n o t pouched, a lternate, and usu a lly from sixteen
to twenty pairs.
Colour of fronds ve ry pale gre en above, and v e ry silvery or
glaucous beneath.
V eins forked and indistinct.
T h is species grows to the h e ig h t of from four to five feet.
Sori termin a l, situ a ted at th e apex of a veinlet, punctiform,
and naked.
