Sterile fronds smooth, b rillian t g reen, and conju g a te ; pinnæ
palmate, four to six-lobed in th e b a rre n portion, th a t is,
th e lower portio n of th e fro n d ; th e lobes oblong-obtuse and
somewhat crenulate.
F e rtile fronds contracted into small spike s; segments linear.
T h e fronds, w hich are palmate, th a t is, divid ed into five
finger-like pa rts, are much more dw a rf th an in th e majority
of this genus.
Roots c reeping every way in an intrica te mass.
