Stipes and main rachis scaly, th e base of th e stipes b e in g very
scaly, and acu le a ted ; stipes rich mahogany brown in colour, and
about eighteen to twenty inches in len g th , one side being thickly
covered w ith long d a rk brown scales, and on th e other m uric ated
with short aculei.
L en g th of fro n d from sixty to eighty-four in c h e s; colour deep
green.
