been received from J\lr. Martin.
F e rtile and sterile fronds different, the b a rre n fronds growing
ro u n d an e re c t c audex, and being inclined at an angle of 46°,
wliilst th e fertile fronds rise p e rp en d icu la rly in the centre.
S terile fronds bipinnalifid, the pinna; being oblong-obtuse. The
fertile fronds bipinnate, and densely covered with a ferruginous
mass of ha irs, as is also the stem of th e ste rile frond. Pinna;
usua lly alternate. F ro n d narrow, be in g only seven inches and
a h a lf in th e widest p a rt, an d narrowing to th e apex. "Width

pairs of pinntE.
F e rtile fro n d e rect, and twenty-six inches in len g th , of which
tw en ty -th re e inches is n aked. Sterile fro n d about th irty -th re e

Stipes and rachis green.
■Fertile p ortion, when mature, a rich red d ish brown, which,
in contrast with the stem covered with whitish wool, gives the
jilant a singular appearance.
Veins forked.
