bip in n a te , deltoid-ovate in outline, somewhat fleshy in tex tu re ,
of a d u ll d ark g re en , paler beneath. T h e pinnæ are opposite,
oblong, and from twelve to eighteen inches long. T h e pinnules
are b roadly lance-shaped, acuminate, th e lower ones cordate at
th e b ase; th e fertile ones crenate or sinuate at th e edges, and
th e sterile ones irreg u la rly se rra ted : they are all remotely
veined.
Sori placed ne a r th e ends of the veins in a line along each
edge of th e p innules, th e spore-cases shortly ellipsoid, bilohed,
the lobes at len g th spreading.
Stipites from twelve to twenty-four inches long, and scaly in
th e lower p a rt.
A ra re F e rn , of considerable h u lk , in te re stin g in a collection,
b u t h a rd ly to be p laced among the more elegant and effective
species.
