Gen. Char. Perianth petaloid, campanulate or
patent, 6-sepaIous. Filaments of the stamens
all subulate, or the alternate ones trifid. Capsule
trigonous.
Spec. Char. Scape leafy below. Leaves subcylindri-
cal, channelled above, smooth, fistular. Spatha 2-
valved. Umbel globular, without bulbils. Stamens
twice as long as the perianth ; the alternate ones
3-cleft. Capsule obtusely trigonous. Bulb accompanied
by stalked offsets.

T h i s highly ornamental plant was first noticed in Je rsey
by Mr. J . Woods, in the summer of 1836. It occurs in
great plenty upon the sandy ground adjoining St. Aubin’s
Bay, and varies from a few inches to nearly three feet in
height. Its root is angular, and has usually several offsets
attached to it by long slender filiform white fibres. The
