GROUP XVI (Subgenus).—Leaves subimparipinnate or snbcirriferoiis. Mak and female
spadices contracted, similar. Lowest primary spathe tubular at the base and somewhat
dilated and elongate-auriculiform upwards. Pariial inflorescences very few, usually
only one, very dense with approximate and very closely-packed flowers. Fruiting
perianth campanulate, split dowii to the base. Stcd deeply ruminate, with basilar
embryo.
