W E have l i t t l e doubt b u t t h a t this is t h e fpecies of Day-Lily k n o w n tobotanifts, fince the days of
Parkinfon and G e r a r d e , under the character of a fmall leaved variety of t h e Y e l l ow ^y-^y, although
i t ' h a s been many years loft to t h e country. It is one amongft the m a n y plants introduced by t h e late
Dr Sibthorne to t h e Oxford botanic garden. As a n a t i v e of t h e n o r t h e r n parts of Europe, it is as h a r dy
U - r t h e H flava or H fulva, to b o t h w h i c h fpecies it bears ftrong affinity} although, w e conceive,
e f f i c i e n t l y diftmft from either, to conftitute a fpecies; which however we m o u l d not have done, but

It is increafed as eafily as any of t h e genus, by p a r t i n g the roots, and thrives in almoft any foil.
