not k n o w n , a l t h o u g h in t h e colle&ion of Meffrs. Lee a n d K e n n e d y , t h r e e years p r e c e d e n t to t h a t p u b l
i c a t i o n ; and w h e r e , it firft flowered in 1/95. Our figure was t a k e n in S e p t e m b e r l / 8 g from a p l a nt
( w e fear t h e only o n e at p r e f e c t i n this k i n g d o m ) in t h e H i b b e r t i a n collection. It has not yet been
p r o p a g a t e d w i t h u s , a n d t h e feeds do not m a t u r e . T h e p l a n t is n e a r l y four feet h i g h , a n d forms a h a n d -
fome, b u l h y ( h r u b , c o n t i n u i n g i n flower nearly t h e whole fummer. Over the w h o l e p l a n t t h e r e is a
b r o w n , or r u t t y - l i k e a p p e a r a n c e , w h i c h takes m u c h f r om i t s b e a u t y . It flourishes in peat e a r t h.
