As a fine variety of the Bundle-leaved E v e r l a i t mg flower, figured in this work, PI. 242 of t h i s V o l .;
we n o w prefent this p l a n t t o our friends. Tis true, it may be t h o u g h t by fome, at firft fight, there is
too confiderable-a degree of fimilitude in the plants to deferve a p a r t i c u l a r plate for e a c h ; but, upon 3
n i g h invefligation, it will be found t h e r e cxifts a ftronger marked difference, in the growth of the
p l a n t s , t h a n , at firft, meets the e y e ; not certainly enough to conftitute a fpecific difference, but undoubtedly
a ftrong variety. The flower llfms, in this, g r ow more flrdddling; and the l o n g item-leaves
a r e more difperled on the upper part of the plant; at the bafe they nearly refemble each other. We
have our figure from the Clapham Collection, to which the plants were introduced at the fame time,
a n d through the fame channel as the above cited fpecies; feeds of both having been fent from the
Cape of Good Hope, by Mr. Niven, in the year 1 7 9 9 . For all that relates to t h e management of this,
we mull refer our readers to the figure juff. alluded t o ; as its habits, time of flowering, &c. in
n o t h i n g differ.
