a t w h o l e n u r f c r y , our figure was t a k e n in t h e y e a r 1 8 0 0 ; where, it h a d t h i n flowered fur t h e fjrft
t i m e , in t h i s k i n g d o m . It is a h a r d y g r e e n h o u i e b u l b ; p r o p a g a t e s f r om t h e root, a n d perfects its f e e d s;
flowers in F e b r u a r y a n d M a r c h , a n d luff* its l e a v e s i n J u n e . It flands q u i t e d i l l i n c t from M , l a t i f o l i a,
b o t h i n t h e c h a r a c i e r of t h e l e a v e s a n d b l o f l b m s ; t h o u g h , a t firft l i g h t , i t h a s m u c h t h e a p p e a r a n c e of
t h a t fpecies. A loamy foil l i g h t e n e d by a fmall m i x t u r e of fandy peat is t h a t it molt approves. The
r o o t s i h o u l d not be t a k e n from the pots a f t e r t h e decay of t h e leaves, b u t kept r a t h e r d r y till t h e leaves
b e g i n t o r e - a p p e a r.
