Lachenalia with the blofibms bell-lhaped, and
w i t h foot-ftalks; petals obtufe and rolled

leaves lance-ihaped; flowers of a purplifli
b l u e colour, and very fweet-fcented.

T H I S very fine fpecies of Lachenalia, w i t h i t s variety, have been figured by Prof. J a c q u i n in his Icones,
a n d Collectanea; but w h e t h e r from dried fpecimens or not we cannot determine. " As yet there is no
figure, of e i t h e r , in any Britifh publication. Mr. W i l l i a m s , o f T u r n h a m Green, nurferyman, was the
nrft w h o had it to flower in this kingdom, and to h i s kindnefs in fending us a fine fpecimen, this year,
i n A p r i l , we a r c indebted for our prefent figure. It is equally hardy w i t h the reft of the fpecies of
t h e Genus, and propagates a b u n d a n t l y by t h e r o o t ; delights moll in a fandy peat foil.
