As a Angularity a m o n g its fellows, this Gladiolus ftands prominently diftinct; and the uncommon and
curious formation of i t s flowers will, u n d o u b t e d l y , counterbalance, in t h e eye of the botamft, what they
w a n t Ín b r i l l i a n c y of colour. It is a hardy bulb, and appears to r e q u i r e only t h e ufual treatment of
t h e hardier fpecies of t h e genus. The C l a p h am collection is, w e b e l i e v e . J h e only one in which it is to
b e found Ín E n g l a n d ; to w h i c h it was introduced, by Mr, N i v e n , in t K e f p r i n g of the year 1 8 0 1 , and
w h e r e our d r a w i n g was m a d e , this prefent year, in the m o n t h of March 1802.
