I N t h e year 178S t h e feeds of t h i s p l a n t were received, from N e w S o u t h W a l e s , by a n u m b e r of p e r -
fons- and w e r e raifed, the fame year, by molt of thofe w h o fowed t h e feeds. The charafler of t he
p l a n t from whence it derives its fpecific t i d e is m u c h loft in its advanced ftate; but in the nrft t w o or
t h r e e years of its rrrowth, it is e x t r e m e l y p o w e r f u l ; the u n d e r part of the young leaves being of a
b r i g h t p u r p l e It is e x t r e m e l y difficult to p r o p a g a t e from c u t t i n g s ; and it has not, as y e t , perfected its
feeds in England It grows t o t h e h e i g h t of fix or feven f e e t ; is a hardy green-houfe plant; and thrives
