LYX campanulatus, quinquefidus; laciniis
duabus fupremis maxirais, obtufis. Stamina
omnia coalita. Legumen pedicillatnm,
comproffum, dorfo a l a t u m , polyfpermum.
C U P bell-fliaped, five-cleft; the two upper fegments
very large and obtufe. The Chives
all united. Pod on a foot-ftalk, comprefled,
winged along the back, many feeded.

Flat-Pea with egg-fhaped leaves, very fmooth
and pointing oppofite ways; flowers grow
folitary from the inferrion of the leaves;
branches cylinder-111 aped.

T H I S fpecies of Flat-Pea was brought from N e w South Wales, at t h e fame time as P. fcolopendrum,
3nd P. lanceolatum, to w h i c h laft it has much affinity; b u t , we think, poffefies a fnfficient number of
differing characters to conftitute a diftinft fpecies. It has not as yet been increafed, we believe, in
B r i t a i n ; any a t t e m p t , to that end, has h i t h e r t o proved abortive; from which circumftance the plants
a r e at prefent fcarce, and are t o be found in few collections. The fame treatment to preferve, and
render the plant flourifbing, is required for this, as for t h e other fpecies. Our D r a w i n g was made h
