The sexes are alike, and the males have the wing 5‘2 -5 ‘5 inches, and the females 5-0-5-5 inches,
so that the males are scarcely any larger than the females. I have not seen a nestling of this
species, but a bird procured by Mr. Richardson at San Juan del Norte on the 24th of March still
retains some triangular buff tips to the wing-coverts: it is otherwise like the adults.
The description has been drawn up from a specimen obtained by Mr. H. Rogers in the Irazu
district of Costa Rica, and now in the Salvin-Godman Collection. The bird figured is a Costa-Rican
skin in the Seebohm Collection. [®* ®*]
