to Head-colour. In Virginia and Carolina
they appear only in Winter; and in
Snow they appear moil In Summer none
are feen. Whether they retire' and breed
in the North (which is moil probabl«>r
where they go, when they leave thefe Countries
in the Spring,iis; to me unknown.

TH I S Plant rifts to the height of eight or ten

Leaves. The Flowers.are monopetalous, but deeply
furrow’d from the. ftalk to the Top of the Flower,
where it divides into feveral fadjiops.... Whithin the
Flower is an oval, chanulated capjula, o f the fize of
a Hazel-Nut, containing very fmall Seeds like Dull.
This Capjula is fourrunded with many yellow
Stamina.
