T weighs fix ounces: the Bill
at the point black, at the ba-
lis whitilh; the Iris of the eye
yellow: the Bafis of the upper
mandible is cover’d with a yellow Sear:
all the upper part of the Body, Wings and
Tail is brown : the interior yanes. of the
quill-feathers have large red fpots: the-Tail
is tranfverily marked with four white lilies;
the Throat, Breaft and Belly white, intermix’d
with brown feathers; the fmall feathers
that cover the thighs, reach within
half an inch-of the feet, and are white-,
with a tincture of red, befet with long fpots
of brown; the Legs and Feet yellow. It
is a very fwift and bold Hawk, preying
on Pigeons and wild Turkeys while they
are young. :

l'oeil jaune ; la bafe de la
mandibule fuperieure eft corner te d’une
peau jaune ; tout le haut du corps, les
ailes, . t f la queüe font brunes. Les barbes.
intérieures des plumes de l'aile ont
de. grandes taches rouges. L a queüe eft
marquée de quatre rayes blanches en travers
-, la gorge, la poitrine, & le ventre
font blancs, entremêlés de plumes brunei
; les petites plumes qui couvrent les
cuiffcs vont jufqu’à un demi pouce des
piés & font blanches, avec une teinture
de. rouge, environnées de longues taches
brunes; les jamb e S ' l e s piés font jaunes.
C’eft un épervier [fort .vite fort
hardi; il enlevé les pigeons, & même les
dindons fauvages lors qu’ils font jeunes.
