what we yet know, to c o n l l i t u l e a very d i l i i n g u i l l n d part, of the woody vegetable productions of that
c o u n t r y : wliereforc, we can have l i t t l e hopes of facing many of them flower with us, at lean, for
many years t o come. The M. ericccfolia was amongtl the firti plants railed in i / b 8 , by Mefln. Lee
and K e n n e d y , H a n i m r r l i n i t h , from f e e d s ; but, till this year, w e believe it has nut been fecn t o flower,
in MOT collection in Great Britain ; nor perhaps would it, as yet, had not a large and old plant, been
p l a n t e d out in the novel and elegant confervatory of t h e Right H o n . the Marquis of Blandford at
W h i t e K n i g h t s , near Reading, Berks, from a branch of which, obligingly communicated by his Lordihip,
our d r a w i n g was taken, the b e g i n n i n g of J u l y , this year,
' t h e Plant grows t o t h e h r i g h t of fix or feven Icet, u p r i g h t , very branching, the branches weeping,
and the (lowers, which grow in fpikes or branches of about fix indies in l e n g t h , project, firaight
out, from about the middle of t h e Item.
It grows bell in a m i x t u r e of two thirds fandy peat, and one third loam ; may be propagated by
c u t t i n g s made, from the tender ihoots, in the month of March, and kept under a glafs, in the t a n bed
of t h e hothoufe, or in a melon frame until rooted.
