T H I S Genus, if w e may j u d g e from w h a t we already potfefs, a m o u n t i n g to 6 fpecies, promifes to furnifh,
an ample feafl for Botanifls; for we have n o doubt, but the fpecies are as numerous as of any one from
N e w Holland. The W i l l o w - l i k e E m b o t h r i um makes a very handfome b u l h y green-houfe p l a n t;
t h e leaves are not fubject to damp, and the i t em acquires the height of 5 or 6 feet. It flowers about
May, and from t h e manner in which the leaves r a t h e r fall downwards, from their infertion, leaving the
b u n c h e s of flowers fully expofed, at their bafe, it has a very picturefque appearance, as the whole
plant is fometimes covered with blofloms. It thrives beft in fandy peat e a r t h , and is increafrd by cutt
i n g s , made about March, or April, and placed in the heat of the Hot-houfe, or a cucumber frame.
