border, obtuiely from 10 to 18-toothed at
the mouth.

T H E S a w e d - h a v e d Samyda is an i n h a b i t a n t of moft of the Weft India Itlands, but was received in
England, about the year 1~Q5, from the Illand of St. V i n c e n t ; tranfmitted from thence, by Mr. Andert'on,
c u r a t o r of t h e Botanic garden, originally eftablillicd there, under t h e fanctiou of o u r government,
by D r . Y o u n g . It is a very tender plant, grows to about three feet in h e i g h t , m a k i n g b u t few
fmall branches, and r a t h e r weak in t h e Item. Our drawing was taken in J u l y this year at t h e garden
of T . Evans, Eiq. Stepney, who w e believe firft had it to flower in this k i n g d o m . It is propagated
by c u t t i n g s ; mult be kept in the bark-bed of t h e liot-houfe, and Ihould be planted in very rich mould.
