B T the K e w Catalogue we are informed, that this fpecies of Geranium, was i n t r o d u c e d to this country,
in the year 1789, by M r . F. Ma l i o n . It is, like many of this branch of the extended family of
G e r a n i u m , rather a tender Grecn-houfe p l a n t ; and will not flower, in perfection, widiout the affiftancc
of the Elct-houfe. It lofes its foliage after flowering, and remains in a fiate of inaction for at
leatl three m o n t h s ; during which period, it fhould be watered but fehlom, and that fparingly. To
propagate it, t h e only mode is, by c u t t i n g fuiall portions of the root off, and potting them into the
t l r o n g heat of a hot-bed, about t h e m o n t h of M a r c h ; as h i t h e r t o , it has not perfected any feeds with
us, and the plant produces no b r a n c h , except the flower-flcm may be fo denominated. Our drawing
was made from the C l a p h am Collection, in July, this year. This fpecies has been confidered bv Profeflbr
M a r t y n , (fee his edition of Mill. Diet, article Pelargonium 2.) as t h e fame with G. pinna turn,
and G. p r o l i n e um of Linn. Sp. Plan. But, however, the fpecific characters in Linnaeus,of thofe fpecies,
may agree with our figure, the G. Allragalifolium of J a c q u i n a n d Cavanillcs, they arc, unquestionably,
•ill different p l a n t s ; drawings of t h e two former we have, and will be given in due courfe.
