Frutex 2-3-pedalis, erectus, ramosus, cortice fusco glabro tectus. Folia in apicibus ramorum fasciculata,
decidua, membranacea, elliptico-lanceolata, glabra, brevissime petiolata, stipulata; stipulis ovatis, membranaceis,
concavis, deciduis. Pedunculi fasciculati, laterales et terminales, unciam longi, appresso-setosi, uniflori.
Calyx persistens, tubum corolla} sequans, 5-partitus, appresse setosus, lobis oblongo-lanceolatis subfoliaceis.
Stamina 10, sequalia, erectiuscula. Filamenta subulata, inferne hirsuta. Ovarium 5-lobum. Stylus hir-
sutus. Stigma 5-lobum. Capsula coriacea, hirsuta. Semina scrobiculata.
Hab. Alpine woods of the Rocky Mountains. Drummond.—A very beautiful and most distinct species,
which would be a great ornament to our gardens if it could be introduced.
