through th e middle o f a pine-wood.

the diftridt Biorneborg or Satekunda. T h e road ftill proceeds through-
woods o f very old pine-trees.
Sallila-Peltari. One may here get fome kind o f lodging. T h e pea-

Mamala. He re is a feparate fmall building for travellers.
Kiviniemi. N o lodging for flrangers. T h e river Cumo appears very
confiderable, and the noife o f its current is heard under the ice.
Soinila, a fmall hamlet without any accommodation for travellers. You
pais over a wooden bridge about two hundred paces, or four hundred
feet long, which is called Wamajkojki Bro. T h e river forms here a
fort o f cataradt, which falls down with a great roaring : in the Finnifh
language a cataradt is called hojki. W h a t appears contrary to all

with th e curve turned towards th e current.
