This beantiful in fe a is not peculiar to China; It is found on the eoalls o f Bengal and Coromandel, and
in the Ifle o f Java. I t feems a very common creature in thofe p an s o f the world; for we rarely receive a
parcel o f the infefts o f thofe countries, and from China in particular, that does not include many of them.
There are feveral varieties o f this fpecies; fome incline very much to green, aud vary in the form o f their
fpots, &c. W e have a charming miniature variety o f it from Africa aquiu. about one third o f the iize of
the Chinefe fpecimens, and of a very deep blue colour. The marks both on the upper and under fide pre-
cifely refemble thofe in the annexed figures
